I was a metal detector dealer in Ohio and loved it but after eight years I decided to shut down the shop. Business had slowed down due to the most popular brand I carried decided to offer dealers different prices depending on the volume they sold. About that time I was offered a really good position so I took it.
I missed the interaction with customers so much. I truly enjoy talking to customers, helping them decide the best detector for their needs and I gained a lot of new friends in the hobby. I missed it more than I could have ever imagined.
After about two years out of selling detectors I decided I was going to try and find a dealer to team up with rather than starting over. I talked to several dealers that ultimately I just wasn’t joining up with. My biggest reason was this – Many dealers I spoke with were all about pushing certain brands/models. Buying several of one model and pushing it. This doesn’t and will never work for me. I am never going to try and sell you something that I don’t believe in or won’t work best for your conditions.
Brian Harvey – When I had all but given up a good friend asked me if I had talked to Brian Harvey from Diggers Den. I admitted I had never even heard of Diggers Den or Brian. I started doing some research and all I was finding was good things about him. I decided to contact him and was absolutely impressed with him, much like me, Brian is all about the customer and not the sale. I have been working with Brian for several months now and he still finds way to impress me, he gets no better feeling than when he helps someone pick the best detector for their needs. My favorite story to this point is recently he had a customer ready to spend over $2,000 but once the customer explained what he was doing Brian suggested a $700 detector. That is why I proudly joined up with Brian and Diggers Den.
