I think I am going to start something new after my girlfriend Steph made a great suggestion. After each podcast do an article highlighting what was discussed and talk about the show. I think it is a great idea and could be a great way to get feedback on how we can make the show better.
Before we go live we always have our guest(s) call in earlier so we can test the audio and make sure everything is working well. It’s also a good time for us to get to know our guests and hopefully loosen everyone up. Last night was by far the funniest pre show Bob and I have had. By the time we started the show my face was sore from laughing so much!
The second I hit the button to go live I lost Charlie! I hate when there is a glitch but I got him back before the Intro was over so fortunately that went unnoticed. If you follow the show you also know there is an outro played at the end of the show. By the time we hit the end of the show the Outro was missing! I also have to apologize to our callers. The show was so busy it was hard to keep up and at times we had people on and I hadn’t even realized it! Small things considering how busy the show was with questions from the chat room and the phone ringing a lot. I am not a professional nor do I claim to be and I doubt the alcohol helped!
I had a big glass of coat throat tea, no for real, that’s what it’s called with some lemon juice and moonshine added. I have had a cold for a few days and have been coughing my head off, so I was trying to tame it before the show started. It did help but I don’t know that it was worth the jokes the guys had about it on the pre call!
It’s always easier after the show to reflect on how it went and mistakes that were made. Reflecting on last night I feel like Bob and I didn’t give our guests enough time to talk. We are both so passionate about metal detecting and we were both excited to talk to Charlie and Jay Mo that I feel like they didn’t get to talk as much as we would have liked. I think Jay Mo’s chicken got more air time then him! If we can get any of the stealth diggers back I think it might be a good idea to have one at a time especially with as many people who were calling in. A lot of calls I didn’t answer due to having two and even three other people waiting at times.
Although looking back I wish we would have given them more time to talk (common problem with Bob and I) I think the show went well. I know I learned some things about these guys that gave me even a higher level of respect for each of them and what they are out there doing.
I really enjoyed discussing things going into museums and that Charlie works with his local historical society and even does digs with school kids. My favorite part was (sorry Jay Mo) the discussion about his doppelgangers was hysterical and I hope to get him on the show again with him and his chickens, hearing them in the background for a moment was hilarious!
I didn’t know what to expect when Bob contacted them about being on our podcast. We know they are busy people and who wants to take the time to do our little podcast? Bob went on and on to me how nice they were when he was discussing the show with them and once I got in contact with them I was really surprised at just how nice they were. Not that I was expecting them to be jerks or anything but they were so accommodating and genuinely awesome beyond my expectations. After having talked to these guys over the last few days, not only are they funny and down to earth but they are passionate ab0ut the hobby. It’s easy to understand why the Stealth Diggers have become icons in the metal detecting community! I wish you guys the best of luck and keep up the great work and awesome videos that so many look forward to every week!
I truly want to thank Digger Charlie and Jay Mo for doing the metal detecting podcast and all the great callers! For those whose call we didn’t take I apologize. I hope to get them both on again and more of the Stealth Diggers!
