Peter Schichtel & Joe Jorgensen Discuss the “Snake Pit”

July 25, 2017 By Detectorist, Mike Haer Leave a Comment

Last night was the second time Bob and I have had these guys on the show. If you listen to the podcast you will quickly understand why we love having these two on and why we will have them back again. Peter and Joe are a wealth of information but they also work so well together!

These two knock it out of the park when it comes to telling a story. Just minutes into the first show Bob and I did with them, we had people in chat telling us we needed to have these guys back on.. yea, they are that good! One can start a story and the other finish it so seamlessly that you could miss it, like they each know when it’s their turn and without skipping a beat, takeover.

The show last night was about the snake pit, dubbed that from all the civil war snake buckles that have come out of it. If you know how rare it is to find one of these then you know how incredible it is that over 80 have come from this particular pit! If that wasn’t amazing enough there have been thousands of other artifacts to come from this spectacular pit.

Peter and Joe discuss how they came to find this  site and others similar to it. They also talk about some of the people they’ve had there and the many artifacts they’ve been fortunate enough to recover. I could write about it and turn last night’s show into several articles but to truly appreciate it you really need to listen to both podcasts with these guys, watch the videos and look at their Facebook page to see some of the truly amazing finds that have come out of the famous “snake pit.”
