What an exciting few weeks it has been in the metal detecting world. The AT Max’s have been getting shipped out to customers, this past weekend Minelab announced two new metal detectors, the Equinox 600/800 and two new pin pointers, the 15 and 35 with the 35 having Iron Ferrous tone ID!
Last night, just a few hours before I went live on my podcast, all metal mode, someone alerted me to a post by Dominique Ivy Da Silva showing a mysterious new Whites metal detector in the back ground. Not much to see but Whites fans were able to tell it wasn’t a detector currently in production by Whites.
I actually found out about the new machine a few weeks ago while talking to Tom Boykin from Whites. Tom told me they were working on something and close to the field testing stage. Of course he couldn’t tell me anything more than that other than I might get a chance to field test it myself if it’s ready before my Trip to Ohio coming up in just a few weeks.
It has not been confirmed, at least not to me but I heard rumors that Dominique found 15 Roman coins and two brooches yesterday while field testing it in England. If this is confirmed I consider that to be pretty incredible and already speak volumes of what this new White’s metal detector is capable of.
When Whites is planning to announce this new metal detector and what new technology we can expect is still anyone’s guess at this point but I have seen a rumor about it possibly being some VLF / PI hybrid. Time will tell but it is certainly exciting times. I for one am really excited to see what Whites will be bringing to the market soon!
